Innovative new product to drive EOS expansion
EOS Limited, an innovative manufacturer of modular buildings, is moving in to a lucrative new market, which has the potential to double its workforce and add millions of pounds to its bottom line.
EOS has created a two storey house which takes only six weeks to construct at its County Durham factory and two days to erect on site where, in preparation, a foundation base has been laid and services installed to swiftly connect into the property.
Orders for its new product already have been secured from leisure park owners.
While the new design has caught the attention of the leisure industry, EOS director Michael O’Connell believes it has particular potential in the low-cost social housing sector.
He said that these properties, without the land, foundations & infrastructure, cost about £85,000 to build (factory gate cost) compared to £120,000 for a conventional home.
Michael O’Connell said: “I envisage our new design driving growth to such an extent where EOS will be able to take on up to 30 more workers and add £3 million to our turnover.”
The comfortable homes feature all mod cons and boast three bedrooms with en suites, a fully fitted kitchen, dining room, a lounge, a study, a utility room, and a cloakroom.
For the leisure sector, they come with extras and are provided fully carpeted and furnished right down to the tables and chairs. These properties are constructed with the lounge upstairs leading out to a balcony and the bedrooms on the ground floor.
But for the social housing sector, they can be built with the more traditional layout of the sleeping quarters upstairs and the living area below.
Michael O’Connell said: “EOS prides itself on keeping at the forefront of innovation, shortening product production times, and launching new designs.
“This new type of home has already secured firm orders in the leisure industry and we are confident it will attract interest from the social housing sector due to the shorter construction timescale and lower than conventional costs.
“This speed and ease of construction and the cost of these homes means they can help meet the Government targets of building three million new homes by the year 2020 and 70,000 affordable homes a year by 2010.”
Another attribute of the homes is their green credentials due to insulation quality of the roof and wall panels used in the EOS system building process.
EOS designs and manufactures light gauge steel framing systems for the European construction industry and its areas of expertise include social and private housing, commercial buildings, student accommodation, schools, and healthcare schemes.
